Nigerians: The Hardship Reality

Image
During the 2023 general elections in  February 2023, the citizens had the responsibility to set and make things right by choosing the right candidate! The elections came with mixed feelings as every Nigerian had a candidate of their choice and had personal reasons they wanted to win Some polling units as seen in viral videos during the election day; were nothing to write home about as violence and chaos were the order of the day. With all the ups and downs, Nigerians are now left to face the reality of the 2023 general elections! Now, the big question is "What is the reality of Nigerians with the new leadership" Pains and pains, sorrow, hardship, and difficulties are the new anthem in the country, as things have gone south and the change we all clamored for is nowhere to be found! Some Families in Nigeria today find it difficult to eat 3 square meals a day, jobs are cutting down salaries instead of the opposite! The truth is, the citizens have lost hope in the...

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE BOY CHILD

Image
The International Day of the Boy Child should remind us of our collective guilt in neglecting the boy-child, which have led us to the spate of insecurity bedeviling the nation from all angles and in all directions.   As we celebrate the International Day of the Boy Child this year, let us reflect on the dangers of the neglect the boy-child.   Let us look towards taking definite actions to addressing the neglect of the boy child. Let us summon the courage to end the phenomenon of street children by whatever name called.   Let us protect our boys as much as we protect our girls. I wonder how many people are aware of the fact that there is an International Day of the Boy Child. Perhaps we are all obsessed with protecting our daughters that our focuses have always been on the “girl child”. But there is an International Day of the Boy Child. It is the 16th of May every year. It was officially adopted by the United Nations in 2018, which was five years ago. T...

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA VISIBILITY

Image
I will start by stating this “social media is a tool to Make or Mar” depending on how you use it. In a world of digital possibilities, anyone lagging behind in the need to measure up with social media is yet to come into digital realization and is likely to lose a lot in a time as this. Now, the funny truth is that most Christians still find social media as a threat to morality (which is not entirely wrong) and therefore don`t see the need to use it or utilize it. So many Christian sisters and brothers have potentials that when they share with the large world will be a blessing to the people around them and also put food on their table. This is why before I start fully on the need for the use of social media, I want us to learn, relearn and unlearn on the ideology or perception that social media is for the worldly people alone and Christians should not have any need for it or better still use it for the transfer of information like just Whatsapp your relations outside the...

GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA: A MIRAGE OR A REALITY

Image
Good governance is the responsibility of every government starting from the Local government level to the state and the federal level. Good governance can be a reality if the citizens take governance seriously and always fight for what is theirs. When we talk about good governance, all we are demanding is the effective use of the people’s public funds to better their lives. Every government should have the people’s goodwill in mind and do everything possible to make the people enjoy good and quality leadership. People are the core value of every government and meeting their needs is as important as ruling this people. Government is meant to be the government of the people for the people and by the people, but today what we are seeing is nothing order than the government of the few by the few and for the few. The masses are suffering on a daily basis, in a country as big as Nigeria; people are still dying of hunger, we have people who still find it difficult to feed on...

Niger Republic crisis: A message to our leaders

Image
A few weeks back in Niger Republic, soldiers from the Presidential Guard deposed President Mohamed Bazoum as a democratically elected leader and installed a military head of state on July 26, 2023. They stated the reason for their action to be the deteriorating security situation and bad governance in the Nation-state since Bazoum took over power. Reacting to this news making rounds all over the world now, the coup plotters warned against any foreign interference in their country, saying that they decided to put an end to the regime of President Bazoum, owing to the country’s deteriorating security situation and bad governance. However, the new military junta closed down the country’s borders, imposed a nationwide curfew, and suspended all institutions of the republic.  Nevertheless, this action shows that the people are the owners of power. Power doesn’t belong to the government as proposed by them; power truly belongs to the people. Since this may not be the right approach...

Young people and relationships

Image
The rate at which young people find so much pleasure/joy in having a partner, ie, having the status "in a relationship" is so worrisome. It is common amongst young people to say things like (My boyfriend said, my boyfriend did, my babe said, my girlfriend said) and all talks like that. The few ones who have no one to refer to as "babe" or any sweet them they call each other these days are seen as outcasts.  These trends and moral decay have led young boys and girls into relationships they are not ready for, and as such suffer the consequences of lack of preparedness. Some of these relationships hit the rock within months they venture into it, as a result of misconceptions of what a relationship is all about. In these relationships, we see these young men acting as Dad early, as they are the ones to provide for their partner's needs and wants and anyone who is not able to provide such is seen as unready to be in a relationship. While the ladies are forced to act...

Financial Independence: Women and Society’s Notion

Image
There is this belief in Africa, more especially in Nigeria that when a man becomes rich, he goes for a woman, but when a woman/Lady becomes rich, she feels she doesn`t need a man.   And this has brought about the opinion that women don`t respect men when they (women) are rich. However, some men refuse to marry rich women with the mindset that "she won`t respect me, because she`s richer"   This has led most men to prefer marrying women who are a bit under them financially, with the opinion that they can control them (as rich women are difficult to control).   Most people believe that independent women are too difficult to control and may not make good Moms and Wives to their husbands and their kids.   First, I want us to understand that women are goal getters, when a woman puts her heart to make or mar anything, she does it effortlessly.    If a woman is into any other career, she makes sure she gives in her best and can go to any length...
