Financial Independence: Women and Society’s Notion

 

There is this belief in Africa, more especially in Nigeria that when a man becomes rich, he goes for a woman, but when a woman/Lady becomes rich, she feels she doesn`t need a man.

 And this has brought about the opinion that women don`t respect men when they (women) are rich.

However, some men refuse to marry rich women with the mindset that "she won`t respect me, because she`s richer"

 This has led most men to prefer marrying women who are a bit under them financially, with the opinion that they can control them (as rich women are difficult to control).

 Most people believe that independent women are too difficult to control and may not make good Moms and Wives to their husbands and their kids.

 First, I want us to understand that women are goal getters, when a woman puts her heart to make or mar anything, she does it effortlessly. 

 If a woman is into any other career, she makes sure she gives in her best and can go to any length to achieve this.

 Women are known to be home builders, they make and build up anything they truly put their heart in.

They hate distractions and can go to any length to do away with any form of it.

 However, where society has gotten it all wrong is in judging this set of creatures, instead of helping them balance the equation.

Instead of condemning a woman, because she decided to be a workaholic, and goal-getter and go for her dreams (neglecting other things, including her love life, marriage, children, family, etc.

), teach them how to balance the equation.

Everyone needs love, family, care, and children, no one will forbid having them. What they never want is the problems that come with them (which are inevitable).

Now, this article is a wake-up call to agencies, bodies, and organizations that are interested in the growth and development of women in all ramifications to teach them how to balance being a mom, wife, and career person.

Teach them to handle all equally, and not neglect one, while focusing on one.

What women need is love and guidance, not criticism.

The same society saying "Women who are independent or richer than their partners will not be wife materials the same society saying, "Men don`t need women who are liabilities.

Help them handle life well and don`t suffocate them.
